Matter defined and 4 phases/states discussed (solid, liquid, gas & plasma).
What is needed to move from state to state?
Matter has physical & chemical properties.Physical properties can be measured without changing the chemical's identity. The freezing point of a substance is physical. When water freezes, it's still H2O.
Chemical properties deal with how one chemical reacts with another. We know that wood is flammable because it becomes heat, ash, and carbon dioxide when heated in the presence of oxygen.

6th Grade:
Earth's Layers/Systems(Atmosphere, Biosphere, Geosphere & Hydrosphere
Short ppt presentation, video and chapter reading in class. Define terms: pressure,
crust, nuclear, meteorites, mantle, diameter, core, outer core, hydrosphere, biosphere, geosphere and atmosphere. Study notes, Quiz Thursday
Weekend Homework: comparing and contrasting worksheet, due Monday
7th Grade:
Cell Discovery & Cell Theory
Classifying (types): Prokaryotic or Eukaryotic
Characteristics of cells: cell membrane, organelles, DNA, protoplasm
ppt presentation, Dr. Birdly's comic strip (nerve cells, muscle cells, cardiac muscle cells & red blood cells
Study notes, Quiz Thursday
Weekend Homework: comparing and contrasting worksheet, due Monday
8th Grade:
Matter defined and 4 phases/states discussed (solid, liquid, gas & plasma).
What is needed to move from state to state?
Matter has physical & chemical properties.Physical properties can be measured without changing the chemical's identity. The freezing point of a substance is physical. When water freezes, it's still H2O.
Chemical properties deal with how one chemical reacts with another. We know that wood is flammable because it becomes heat, ash, and carbon dioxide when heated in the presence of oxygen.
Weekend Homework: comparing and contrasting worksheet, due Monday

Welcome to the Weebly site!
1. I will post on the this site weekly and most often, weeks at a time.
2. Review your class notes daily for homework.
3.As noted in class, all science quizzes or assessments will be given on Thursdays. Therefore, always plan on having a weekly quiz. Past assignments and lecture notes are "fair game" and should be reviewed often.
This weeks focus: Scientific Method & Variables
